Response to Ethan's "Spanish Moss"

The three boys featured in the story are worried about their entrance into high school and, as they view it, the adult world. To prepare themselves for the upcoming change, they decide to give weed a try. They sneak away to the creek where they have often met before and venture off so that they can’t be seen. The experience isn’t much for our narrator and he ends up feeling cheated before seeing a black object across the creek from them. They swim over and see that it’s a bag. Upon poking it open, an arm falls out and the boys dart off, never telling anyone or returning to that section of the creek again. The boys then grow up, with one friend moving away and never speaking to them again.
I think the way you characterized your characters was well done, from the scared boy Blake constantly taking glances to the uncaring Tommy who never shut up to the narrator who seems a little more mature (or perhaps just arrogant) for his age. Though a bit cliché in their antics at times, the characters felt believable and real too. Their need to fit in and fear of the transition to high school is very relatable. I guess the one thing I’d like to see added is more on the events following their discovery of the bag at the creek. Their friendship seemed to deteriorate  after these events but we don’t really get to seem much of this. They seemed so close before so one friend just up and moving and never talking to them again seems a bit strange, even with all that’s happened.
